Rolf Urs Ringger
Rolf Urs Ringger was born in Zurich and studied music during his secondary education and at the conservatory in Zurich. He attended the ‘Darmstädter Ferienkurse’ in 1956. He studied composition under Theodor W. Adorno and Hans Werner Henze in Neapel. He also studied conducting in Zurich from 1958 until 1962. He earned his doctorate in musicology and philosophy from the University of Zurich with a dissertation on Anton Webern. In 1967/68 he was a guest of the German Academic Exchange Programme in West Berlin. Since 1975 he has produced commissioned works for piano, voice, chamber music and orchestral pieces, ballets and orchestrations. Rolf Urs Ringger has performed in London, Manchester, Frankfurt a. M., New York, Berlin, Munich and Tokyo. He is an active music publicist.
