Franz Rechsteiner

Franz N.Rechsteiner was born in Appenzell. On completing his theological studies in 1967 he began musical studies in Zurich in 1972 where he received his diploma for teaching and violin under H. Reitz, P. Wettstein and R. Kelterborn. From 1971 until 1973 he was a pupil in composition under R. Kelterborn. From 1973 until 1975 he was music teacher at the college in Stans (Switzerland) and since 1974, teacher for musical theory at the ‘Akademie für Schul- und Kirchenmusik Luzern’ (Lucerne Academy for School and Church Music).
His main genera are chamber music, vocal music, cantatas, oratorium, and church music (concertante and liturgical).
