Burkhard Kinzler

Burkhard Kinzler: composer, conductor, music theorist, teacher of music.
Born 1963 in Stuttgart (Germany) and grown up in Heidenheim / Brenz, he studied sacred music in Heidelberg, composition in Basel with Roland Moser and conducting in Trossingen with Manfred Schreier.
He gave lectures for  choir and orchestra conducting at the University of Music and Drama Hannover, for music theory and improvisation at der University of Sacred Music Heidelberg. From 1999 until 2006 he was professor for music theory at University of Music and performing Arts Mannheim. In 2003 he was appointed as a professor for music theory at the Zurich University of the Arts.
As a composer, he writes music for highly reputed musicians and ensembles, his music is performed in several countries. He is conductor of various vocal and instrumental ensembles and has premiered numerous contemporary works. He is artistic director of the Meersburg summer academy, where he performs large oratorios. Since 2007 he is artistic director of the museum concerts in Winterthur.
